Peter Blanchard is a local government reporter at Mirror Indy, a nonprofit newsroom based in Indianapolis that launched in 2023 with support from the American Journalism Project.

Peter joined the Mirror Indy team in early 2024 after writing about state politics and economic development for the Indianapolis Business Journal, where his work was honored by the Society of Professional Journalists and The Alliance of Area Business Publishers. Prior to moving to Indiana in 2021, he worked for newspapers, online publications and radio stations in upstate New York and his home state of Pennsylvania. Since joining Mirror Indy, Peter has written extensively about how local government impacts the lives of Indy residents. His reporting on a city official's abuse of power was a recipient of SPJ Indiana's Best Online Multimedia award in 2024.

He is a 2012 graduate of the Ithaca College Park School of Communications, where he served as news director of the college radio station and appeared as a panelist and host on multiple television news and current affairs programs. He also authored pieces for college magazines and online publications, covering topics ranging from police shootings and mass incarceration to politics and labor issues.

When Peter isn't working, he enjoys playing tennis, performing music and spending time with his wife and their two cats at their home in Irvington.
